̉pera Oberta in universities

̉pera Oberta is an introductory course to opera offered by the Gran Teatre del Liceu through various universities. It includes live broadcasts of five titles from the Liceu opera season and one from the season at the Teatro Real in Madrid. It is part of the academic curriculum and carries optional credits.

Operas are broadcast with subtitles in the appropriate language in each case (Catalan, Castilian, Galician, Portuguese or French) and the broadcasts are preceded by a fifteen minute audiovisual preentations developed jointly by experts from a university affiliated with the program and the Liceu.

Forty universities currently participate in Spain, France, Andorra, Portugal, Mexico and Colombia.
