The charity concert for the Raval Solidari Foundation will take place this coming 2nd of June in the Great Lyceum Theatre, with the purpose of raising funds to finance social action programs carried out by the organisation in the Raval neighbourhood of Barcelona.
The Raval Solidari Foundation is a charity created in 1998 whose main aims are to improve the lives of the poorest families in the neighbourhood, to battle against marginalisation and social exclusion, and to promote volunteering work. Most of the projects are carried out through the three associations sponsored by the foundation: Acción Social Montalegre, which looks after families; Braval, which works to support education; and Terral, a centre dedicated to promoting women. For more information, see the organisation’s website
Profits from this concert will go solely towards financing the programs and activities of the foundation, which reach over 2000 people each year thanks to the effort of a team of over 500 regular volunteers.
The Ars Tunae group will take part under the direction of the conductor Manuel Gómez, accompanied by the Canigó Choir, directed by the conductor José Antonio Mur. The Orchestra a plettro Città di Milano will also participate, conducted by Augusto Scibilia. The repertoire will feature popular music, including works by Pucchini, Moustaki, Piovani, Lara, Bernstein and Verdi, among others.
