The concept chosen to work on in this project is ambition, one of the main leitmotifs in Richard Wagner’s opera Das Rheingold. This ambition is triggered when the Nibelung dwarf steals the gold from the Rhine to forge a ring that will allow him to control the world. After this point, the ring will pass through the hands of several characters, causing disputes, pain and even death. Following this idea, the audiovisual work we propose is a long take where we will follow the course of the ring. Characters are defined by different arms in motion and they will represent each of the ring’s changes in ownership that appear in the opera.
