HOMAGE TO THE BALLETS RUSSES OF THE CENTENARY OF THEIR FOUNDATION
The English National Ballet - created in 1950 as the London Festival Ballet and known by its present name since 1989 - has distinguished itself by its role in preserving the modes of expression and tradition of classical and neo-classical dance.
This year it brings a repertoire dedicated exclusively to the historic Ballets Russes to mark the centenary of that great artistic adventure in 20th century European dance.
Les Sylphides, The Dying Swan, Le Spectre de la rose, Faun(e) and Schéhérazade are all choreographies that encapsulate the evolution of the Ballets Russes.
The Liceu, whose own relationship with Diaghilev's company dates back a hundred years, identifies fully with this tribute.
