The concert of the 47th edition of the «Francesc Viñas» International Singing Contest will offer the opportunity to get to know the winners of this year’s main awards.  The contest bears the name of the legendary tenor Francesc Viñas i Dordal (Moià 1863 – Barcelona 1933). Viñas had a supple and delicate but at the same time powerful voice which he laid at the service of the Verdian, French and Verist repertories but which he dedicated first and foremost to Wagner. As he wrote in 1932: “To Wagner we owe true operatic declamation which - when handled by intellectual artists, to the exclusion of all conventionalism – produces overwhelmingly realistic new sensations. What is more, to achieve this type ofsinging in modern works, it is necessary to know the basic rules of vocal training; otherwise the result is an unbearable, antimusical recitative.”
