The concert of the 48th edition of the «Francesc Viñas» International Singing Contest will offer the opportunity to get to know the winners of this year’s main awards.
The contest bears the name of the legendary tenor Francesc Viñas i Dordal (Moià 1863 – Barcelona 1933). Viñas had a supple and delicate but powerful voice. He cultivated the Verdian, French and Verist repertories but dedicated himself primarily to Wagner.
He made his Liceu debut in Lohengrin (1888), the work the made him famous, and subsequently appeared there frequently. On 31 December 1913 he took the title role at the Liceu premiere of Parsifal.
Viñas attached great importance to the harmonious blend of all the components of opera which he considered Wagner's prime contribution to the genre.
At the end of the contest, the verdict of the international jury will be announced.
