Giselle is the second choreography written by David Dawson for the Dresden Ballet. It tells a tale of fate, love, despair, madness, and ultimately death and sacrifice, which Dawson views through the prism of his own unmistakable style to enable 21st century audiences to rediscover this great and timeless love story. The ballet retains the essence of Romanticism, steeped in mystery, poetry, ethereal beauty and dangerous passions. Yet Giselle, from the time of its creation, was an emotional experiment that broke numerous rules and signified a veritable break with convention. Now this entire legacy is rewritten through Dawson's youthfully passionate gaze.
