Google Street View
The Gran Teatre del Liceu opens its facilities for the first time to internet users worldwide thanks to the collaboration between Google and the Generalitat of Catalonia.
Google Maps' panoramic service allows access to many corners of the Theatre, from iconic places such as the Hall of Mirrors to areas unknown to the public, like the costume and makeup departments, the interior of the stage, and the rehearsal rooms.
The Street View feature will allow visitors to explore the Liceu in 360° virtual reality thanks to the collaboration between the Centre de Telecomunicacions i Tecnologies de la Informació (CTTI) of the Generalitat of Catalonia and the American company Google.
The Liceu
The current Theatre Hall is an exact replica of the original horseshoe-shaped hall, designed by architect Miquel Garriga i Roca in 1847. It has a seating capacity of 2,292, a height of about 20 meters, and a depth of 33 meters.
The Theatre Hall is one of the most solemn theatrical spaces of 19th-century architecture, incorporating the technical, comfort, and safety facilities required today. It has a seating capacity of 2,292 seats spread over six levels and is one of the largest opera halls in the world.
Rehearsal Room
The Mestres Cabanes rehearsal hall is located above the main auditorium and therefore has the same dimensions. It is a space with natural light that offers all the possibilities to carry out any opera or dance rehearsal.
