The Chorus of the Gran Teatre del Liceu took shape in the 1960s under the leadership of Riccardo Bottino. At the start of the 1982-83 season, Romano Gandolfi and Vittorio Sicuri took over as joint conductors. The latter were succeeded by Andrés Máspero, William Spaulding and then José Luis Basso. Since July 2014, the Chorus director has been Peter Burian.
The Chorus has performed in: the Palau de la Música Catalana, the Auditoriums in Barcelona, Terrassa, Sant Cugat, Santiago de Compostela and Vigo, the Teatre Fortuny in Reus, the Teatro Real in Madrid, the Arènes de Nîmes, the Ludwigshafen opera, the Théâtre des Champs Elysées in Paris, the Teatre Grec in Barcelona, the Seu Vella in Lleida, the Castell de Peralada Festival, the Palau de la Música in Valencia, the Teatro La Fenice in Venice and the Savonlinna Opera Festival, among others.
