Unlike other European opera houses, the Gran Teatre del Liceu was founded by the private patronage of Barcelona’s entrepreneurs and this is the reason, for example, why it has no royal or presidential box. Even though the Liceu is today a publicly-owned institution, this character of private commitment has been preserved over the years and today numerous individual and corporate sponsors support the Liceu and its artistic activity.

Following this tradition in the current global environment, the Liceu Barcelona Opera House US Foundation wants to engage American friends and patrons to help support the operatic life of the Liceu and to promote the dialogue and cooperation between the Gran Teatre del Liceu and the United States. Your support and commitment is basic for us to keep this artistic exchange and to maintain this valuable heritage.
