Born in Warsaw, he studied at the Conservatory of his hometown and began singing at the Chamber Opera of the National Theatre of Poland, where he made his debut in 2002 with Eugene Onegin. 

Director Valery Gergiev invited him to perform the role of Prince Yeletsky (The Queen of Spades), as well as the title role in Eugene Onegin and Valentin (Faust). 

Among his recent engagements, he made his debut at the San Francisco Opera as Giorgio Germont (La Traviata), portrayed Francesco (I masnadieri) at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, performed as Ashton (Lucia di Lammermoor) at the Teatro Real in Madrid, played Count di Luna (Il Trovatore) at the Lyric Opera of Chicago, and, at the Opéra Monte-Carlo, presented Luisa Miller in a concert version. 

He has also interpreted La Traviata, Manon, and La Bohème at The Metropolitan Opera in New York, among others. 

He made his debut at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in the 2009/10 season with King Roger and has returned with La Bohème (2015/16) and Il Trovatore (2016/17).
