The final concert of the 52nd edition of the Francesc Viñas International Singing Contest will afford a chance to see the winners of this year's main awards. This contest, which enjoys enduring prestige worldwide, has been held ever since 1963 and pays tribute to the tenor from Barcelona who was acknowledged as one of the greatest Wagnerian singers of his day.

In 1963, Dr. Jacint Vilardell, patron of the arts from Barcelona, founded the contest in memory of the famous catalan tenor Francisco Viñas. At his death, he was succeeded by his daughter Maria Vilardell, who took care of the competition for 44 years, being, together with the Gran Teatre del Liceu, the driving force behind the event. The “Francisco Viñas” Singing Contest enjoys great international prestige and is held with the support of the main opera houses in the world. Every year, the contests convenes in Barcelona the young voices from around the world.
