The cultural project presented each season by the Fundació del Gran Teatre del Liceu involves a commitment towards the community to stage a series of artistic events – primarily opera and ballet – for the general public and at the same time to strengthen the Liceu’s worldwide reputation for excellence.

As in all the world’s opera houses, cultural sponsorship has a crucial role to play in fulfilling this commitment. The purpose of the Sponsorship Programme is to facilitate private funding for the theatre while fostering participation from the corporate sector and civil society in the Liceu's cultural initiatives.

Each new season is made possible primarily through the participation of the different levels of government and all those companies and individuals who generously give us their support.

The scheme for corporate sponsorship was launched to encourage private enterprise to play a direct part in the Liceu’s programme and management. Several formulas are possible:

Corporate partner
A formula for leading companies in their sector that decide to form an active alliance with the Liceu. This alliance includes participation in the Patronage Council and the theatre’s governing bodies, the use of venues at the disposal of firms and a variety of other benefits.

Corporate supporter
Companies who form an alliance with the Liceu as corporate supporters are entitled to use the opera house as a venue for their corporative public relations and to enhance their image by associating it with the prestige of the opera house.

Special project supporter
Companies in this category support the Liceu by helping to fund specific projects such as the Petit Liceu, which brings opera and dance within the reach of children and teenagers, or Òpera Oberta, which disseminates opera to universities all over the world. Additional possibilities include sponsoring a night at the opera, direct funding of productions, renovating the theatre’s facilities, and other specific actions.

Benefactors
This formula is especially designed for private individuals who display their generosity through a commitment to the Liceu and its artistic endeavours. Benefactors are entitled to a special subscription which enables them to take part in  the Liceu's activities.
