THE BEST OF WAGNER
Currently in Barcelona at the Liceu

The Bayreuth Festival is the most prestigious Wagner festival in the world. Conceived by Richard Wagner himself in 1874 in the city of Bayreuth, it has been held every summer since then. It is one of the hardest world events to get tickets for (with a waiting list of up to seven years). The finest Wagner performers, including singers and musicians, take part therein. In 1955, as a milestone event, the festival travelled outside Germany to visit the Liceu, an occasion which deeply moved the city of Barcelona. More than fifty years have elapsed and the festival has chosen to visit the Liceu once again in September. The theatre is to play host to concert performances of Der fliegende HolländerLohengrin and Tristan und Isolde

Der fliegende Holländer (1 and 4 September)
(concert version)

Lohengrin (2 and 5 September)
(concert concert)

Tristan und Isolde (6 September)
(concert version)
