Barcelona’s opera house Gran Teatre del Liceu was founded in 1847 and stands in La Rambla, in the center of the city. The Liceu is the result of the initiative of a group of entrepreneurs of the city at the time. Since then, it has hosted the leading artists, orchestras and ballets of the world, including the regular visits of American companies and artists. The Liceu Barcelona Opera House US Foundation wants to continue this tradition of patronage in the current global environment to engage its American friends and patrons to encourage and sustain the operatic exchange between the Gran Teatre del Liceu and the United States.
Renowned international artists with an affective and artistic relationship with the Liceu accepted to be part of the Artistic Honorary Board of the Liceu Barcelona Opera House US Foundation. These artists are Roberto Alagna, Jaume Aragall, Montserrat Caballé, Josep Carreras, Fiorenza Cossotto, Joyce DiDonato, Juan Diego Flórez, Mirella Freni, Marilyn Horne, Bejun Mehta, Joan Pons, Sondra Radvanovsky, Renata Scotto, Rolando Villazón and Dolora Zajick. The US Foundation is very grateful to them and values their gesture.
