Trips to Barcelona

The Liceu Barcelona Opera House US Foundation wants to share the many treasures that the city of Barcelona offers: from Gaudí to Miró, and from the Barcelona’s modern design and architecture to its old traditions. One of these Barcelona cultural highlights and one most beloved Catalan arts institution is the Gran Teatre del Liceu.

The Foundation organizes unique and customized trips to Barcelona for its donors that include tickets to operas, ballets, recitals and concerts at the Gran Teatre del Liceu. As well as to concerts of the Liceu Symphony Orchestra in other venues of Barcelona, and cultural activities, exclusive tours and social gatherings in private houses. 

During these trips, the members of the Foundation will enjoy complimentary benefits at the Liceu, discounts in hotels in Barcelona, individual assistance and personalized treatment, among others. The access to these trips is exclusive for members. 

A Baroque soap opera - From 5 to 17 November 2013

David McVicar returns to the Barcelona to stage for the first time at the Liceu Agrippina by Handel in a 1980’s soap opera aesthetic. Harry Bicket leads a Baroque specialist cast, including David Daniels, Danielle de Niese, Sarah Connolly, Malena Ernman and Franz Josef Selig, among others.  One of the most beloved artists at the Liceu, Edita Gruberova offers a recital.  The Liceu Symphony Orchestra plays Mendelssohn’s Midsummer night’s dream and Dvórak’s and Mozart’s Serenates

A magical New Year in Barcelona - From December 2013 to January 2014

The Liceu Barcelona Opera House US Foundation celebrates the support of our American Friends and Patrons with these performances of Cendrillon by Massenet at the Gran Teatre del Liceu. Andrew Davis conducts and Laurent Pelly directs this sparkling new co-production with the American mezzo Joyce DiDonato.

A Romantic classic for Valentine's Day at the Liceu - From 14 to 17 February 2014

Come to celebrate Valentine’s day at the Liceu with one of the artistic couples of the moment: Juan Diego Flórez and Diana Damrau star in La sonnambula. Anja Harteros sings Strauss at the Palau de la Música with the Liceu Symphony Orchestra conducted by Josep Pons. Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo bring one of their signature pieces to Barcelona: La Belle, with the romantic Tchaikovsky music.

Four divas and the tenor - From 21 to 28 March 2014

Four of the major sopranos of the moment meet in Barcelona that week: Sondra Radvanovsky, Martina Serafin and Fiorenza Cedolins alternate as Tosca at the Liceu’s new production of the drama. In addition to the intensity of Nina Stemme that comes back to the Liceu with a recital. Jonas Kaufmann sings the Schubert cycle Winterreise in his first recital at the Liceu  The Symphony Orchestra of the Liceu offers Bruckner’s No. 4 and a concert inspired by Don Juan and Don Quijote at the Palau de la Música.

Come to see at the Liceu the best production of 2013 - From 25 to 29 April 2014

The innovative director Dimitri Tcherniakov makes his Liceu debut with Kitezh, awarded with the Opera Award 2013 as the best production of the year. This was one of the most popular titles at the Liceu before the Spanish Civil War. Angela Gheorghiu will offer a concert opposite to Saimir Pirgu. In the other hand, Angela Denoke will offer an all-Kurt Weill recital Two lives to life, premiered in Salzburg in 2011.

Robert Carsen's Ring continues in Barcelona - From 23 to 31 May 2014

Robert Carsen continues his epic Ring with Die Walküre. Josep Pons conducts a starry cast that includes Iréne Theorin, Anja Kampe / Eva Maria Westbroeck, Klaus Florian Vogt, Albert Dohmen, Mihoko Fujimura and Eric Halfvarson, among others. Joan Pons comes back to the Liceu for a tribute recital and Jordi Savall offers a concert with Le Concert des Nations.
