The Gran Teatre del Liceu is one of the most important Opera House in the world. Founded in 1847, the theater has been, throughout its history, a privileged spectator of the social, artistic, political and economic life of Barcelona. With the largest horseshoe-shaped concert hall in Europe and the second one in the world, the Liceu is a must see space of artistic creation.

THEATRE AND CERCLE DEL LICEU

With this option you can discover the most emblematic spaces of the Gran Teatre del Liceu, by immersing in the architecture and decorative arts, as well as through the most important social, political and artistic events in Barcelona.

The tour starts in the Historic Vestibule, an elegant space in “Florentine” style and then continue with the Hall of Mirrors, which throughout history was considered a meeting point for the Catalan bourgeoisie and where, nowadays, a huge variety of activities are organized.

This tour includes the Cercle del Liceu, a private English style club. Founded in 1847, is one of the most ancients English style club in Spain, which houses one of Catalonia´s most important private collections of Catalan Art Nouveau. You will discover , amongs other, paintings of Ramon Casas, Santiago Rusiñol and Alexandre de Riquer.

BACKSTAGE TOUR

This option includes a tour for the stage, through the technical spaces and the service areas, where it is possible to understand how an Opera House works and all the complexity that there are behind a show.

It’s a path through the dressing room, rehearsal rooms, tailoring and technical spaces.
