Last 21st July 2017 at 22h, 166 municipalities across Spain and Andorra broadcast live the new Verdi’s production Il trovatore in open spaces.
In Barcelona the opera party was held on Friday July 21 at 10 pm at the Arc de Triomf, the main location of the Open Air Liceu /Liceu a la Fresca for the second consecutive year. It hosted the live broadcast of the special TV33 presented by Carolina Rosich and Jofre Font. The event was also attended by Il trovatore singers: George Petean, Tamara Wilson and Piero Pretti, among others. The costume designer Mercè Paloma and the general director of the Liceu Roger Guasch also attended.
Madrid joined the Liceu for the first time also organising Open Air Liceu /Liceu a la Fresca projecting Il Trovatore in the Plaza Mayor, celebrating its fourth centenary. Eva Sandoval, a journalist at Radio Clásica, was in charge of presenting live the opera at The Box, a TV opera programme by RTVE, with the participation of the artistic director of the Liceu Christina Scheppelmann and the stage director Joan Anton Rechi.
Across Spain the active participation of the social branch of the bank "la Caixa" has allowed the broadcast in emblematic places such as: the esplanade located opposite the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, CaixaForum Seville, the Paseo del Salón de Granada, the Parc del Mar in Palma Mallorca or in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria Plaza del Estaño, among many others where opera was openly brought to many citizens.
