We invite you to watch the celebration that took place on Monday 6 February
On Monday 6 February the opening event to commemorate the 20th Anniversary of the Liceu’s reopening took place. These celebrations will conclude on 7 October 2019 with a magnificent opening season. This Anniversary which has been declared “Event of exceptional public interest” by the Spanish Government gives additional tax reliefs to those companies and individuals who support this event.
During the three forthcoming years the Theatre will be organizing different events to commemorate the 20th anniversary and will be working to fulfil three strategic aims: to continue being an artistic reference, to foster the development of the social programme and to adapt to new times by investing in innovation.
These objectives were announced to businesses, supporters and prominent individuals from the economic, political, social and cultural life of Spain who attended the event in which performed the Symphony Orchestra and the Choir of the Gran Teatre del Liceu under the baton of Josep Pons. Operatic singers Sabina Puértolas, Celso Albelo and Jorge León also took part in the evening. The night sought to remember a unique social moment: the reconstruction of the Liceu which was possible thanks to the support of all society in 1994. The event was presented by journalists Ramon Pellicer and Cristina Puig.
