One of today's leading dramatic sopranos.
Iréne Theorin – the Swedish soprano who also makes her roll debut as Gioconda in this season's programme – has been a firm favourite at the opera house on the Rambla since her first appearance here in 2012. The Barcelona audience's enthusiasm has remained constant with each new interpretation of a Wagnerian role. Now she returns to face the challenge of a solo recital. Nordic composers, such as her fellow Swede Ture Rangström and the Finn Jean Sibelius, will be on the bill, while Richard Strauss and Franz Schubert will add a Germanic touch to what promises to be an unforgettable evening.
