Lyrical Gala of the Gran Teatre del Liceu

Ermonela Jaho, Lisette Oropesa, Javier Camarena & Carlos Álvarez

“And without my heart, how can I live?”

L’Orfeo, by Claudio Monteverdi

A quartet of stars from the lyrical firmament to revisit some of the most vibrant moments of operatic literature: Ermonela Jaho, Lisette Oropesa, Javier Camarena, and Carlos Álvarez.

In a way, it's an irresistible invitation to be enchanted by these extraordinary voices touched by divinity. With their charisma, it will have been a thrilling two-hour journey in the company of Violetta Valéry, Adriana Lecouvreur, Il Duca di Mantova, Cio-Cio San, Lucia di Lammermoor, Rigoletto... A gallery of unforgettable characters and scenes, but also demanding, illustrating the range of the tessitura, the quality of the voice, the intention to contribute to (re)live the character, or the apparent simplicity in its immense difficulty.

After the impressive Suor Angelica in last season’s Il Trittico production, Ermonela Jaho, undoubtedly today’s foremost celebrated singing-actress, return to the stage for an intense and moving celebration while Lisette Oropesa returns as a true queen of the most important lyrical temples on the planet. On the other hand, Javier Camarena, the great light lyric tenor of the last decade, and Carlos Álvarez, one of the three best Verdi baritones in the world, will merge their voices in this impressive moment.

With the stars adored by our Liceu audience, this lyrical gala is an opportunity to hold in our memory the moment of a note, an aria, a gesture... that will become eternal.
