Alessio Cacciamani, the Roman bass, is regarded as one of the most compelling voices on today’s operatic scene.

Following his early experience with the Sistine Chapel Choir, where he took part in numerous concerts and recordings, he began his vocal studies in Rome with Teresa Rocchino before continuing his training at the Mozarteum University Salzburg. He graduated with distinction in 2016 with a Bachelor of Arts in Singing. During his studies he made his stage debut as the Commendatore in Don Giovanni. In the 2015/16 season he joined the OperAvenir opera studio in Basel, where he continued his vocal and stage training. He subsequently pursued further professional development and repertoire studies with the renowned bass Roberto Scandiuzzi.

Alongside his vocal studies, Cacciamani also studied the bassoon, graduating in 2008 from the Licinio Refice Conservatory in Frosinone before obtaining a Master's degree in 2010 from the Santa Cecilia Conservatory in Rome. He continued his studies with Francesco Bossone, Principal Bassoon of the Orchestra dell'Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, and performed extensively with chamber ensembles and orchestras throughout Italy.

In 2016 he decided to devote himself entirely to singing, launching his career as a bass with his debut at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma in Un ballo in maschera and at the Terme di Caracalla in Nabucco. He has since returned to his hometown opera house as Procida in Les Vêpres siciliennes and Capellio in I Capuleti e i Montecchi, both under the baton of Daniele Gatti.

His subsequent career has been marked by numerous important role and house debuts, including Biterolf in Tannhäuser and Raimondo in Lucia di Lammermoor at La Fenice in Venice; Il segreto di Susanna and Sarastro in Il flauto magico at the Teatro Verdi in Trieste; Il viaggio a Reims at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona; Sparafucile in Rigoletto on the OperaLombardia circuit; Ramfis in Aida, Don Alfonso in Così fan tutte and Escamillo in Carmen at the Royal Swedish Opera; Il piccolo Marat at Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw; Zaccaria in Nabucco and Lodovico in Otello, conducted by Zubin Mehta, at the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, where he has also appeared in other major productions; Colline in La bohème at the Teatro di San Carlo in Naples and the Teatro Regio in Turin; Bianca e Fernando, Enrico (Henry VIII) in Anna Bolena and Oroveso in Norma at the Opera Carlo Felice in Genoa; and Wurm in Luisa Miller in Angers, Rennes and Nantes.

In September 2022 he made his acclaimed debut in the title role of Attila, opening the season at the Teatro delle Muse in Ancona to widespread critical acclaim.

More recently, he has made notable debuts as Méphistophélès in Faust at the Bunka Kaikan in Tokyo and as Don Basilio in Il barbiere di Siviglia at both the Glyndebourne Festival and the Opéra Municipal de Marseille. A particular highlight of his concert repertoire is Verdi's Requiem, which he has performed in Udine, Tenerife and Prague.

His 2026 engagements include Lucia di Lammermoor at the Opéra du Capitole de Toulouse; his debut as Jorg in Stiffelio at the Theater an der Wien; the Republic Day Concert at the Teatro Bellini in Catania; his debut in Alzira at the Festival Verdi at the Teatro Regio di Parma; Falstaff at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona; and Il trovatore at the Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari.

He made his debut at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in the 2017/18 season with Il viaggio a Reims.
