Anna Netrebko is one of the defining opera stars of the 21st century. Since launching her international career in 1994, she has established herself as one of the most influential sopranos of her generation, headlining season-opening productions at such renowned venues as Teatro alla Scala in Milan and the Metropolitan Opera in New York. Her global profile has also led to appearances at major international events, including the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympic Games, and to her inclusion in Time magazine’s list of the world’s 100 most influential people.
Celebrated for the breadth of her repertoire and her compelling artistry, Netrebko has portrayed many of opera’s most iconic heroines. Her roles range from Mozart and the bel canto repertoire—featuring works such as La sonnambula and Anna Bolena—to French opera (Manon, Roméo et Juliette), Puccini (La bohème, Turandot), Verdi (La traviata, Aida, Macbeth), verismo (Andrea Chénier, Adriana Lecouvreur), Tchaikovsky (Iolanta, Eugene Onegin, The Queen of Spades), and Wagner’s Lohengrin. Upcoming projects include role debuts in Bartók’s Bluebeard’s Castle and Verdi’s Messa da Requiem.

Born in Krasnodar, Russia, in 1971, Netrebko studied at the St. Petersburg Conservatory and completed the Merola Opera Program in San Francisco. She is also actively involved in charitable initiatives supporting underprivileged children.
