Born in New York, he began his career as a resident singer at LA Opera in Los Angeles.
He then joined the Lindemann Young Artist Development Program at The Metropolitan Opera in New York and in 1999 made his New York opera debut as Beppe (Pagliacci) opposite Plácido Domingo.
He made his debut at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in the 2014/15 season with La traviata.
