LiceuOPERA+ presents the new 26/27 digital season with six major streaming premieres, including Aida, La bohème and Jenůfa. The platform enhances the immersive experience with new cameras, multicamera features, and exclusive backstage access at the Liceu.
The Gran Teatre del Liceu opens a new stage of LiceuOPERA+, its audiovisual platform, with the presentation of the 2026/27 digital season. The project introduces a qualitative leap in audiovisual production led by Igor Cortadellas and commits to a more immersive experience thanks to new technical resources such as cablecam, frontal tracking shots, cameras inside the stage and orchestra pit, as well as close-up recording. The platform maintains features such as multicamera viewing, score tracking and act-based editing, consolidating itself as a living digital season synchronized with the Theatre’s programming.
The new season will include six major titles that will premiere digitally throughout the season, offering audiences the possibility to enjoy outstanding productions from anywhere.
1. Aida | Giuseppe Verdi
Digital premiere: October 25, 2026
The digital season will begin with one of the most monumental and popular operas in the Verdi repertoire. Aida combines spectacular staging with a story shaped by love, conflict, and power, becoming one of the major opening highlights of LiceuOPERA+.
2. I Capuleti e i Montecchi | Vincenzo Bellini
Digital premiere: November 22, 2026
Bellini will arrive on the platform with this work inspired by the legend of Romeo and Juliet. With music of great lyricism and dramatic intensity, this title offers an opportunity to discover one of the jewels of Italian bel canto within the digital season.
3. La bohème | Giacomo Puccini
Digital premiere: January 31, 2027
One of the most beloved titles by international audiences will be part of the Liceu’s digital program. La bohème portrays the passions, hardships, and bohemian youth of Paris, featuring some of Puccini’s most famous and emotionally powerful melodies.
4. La fanciulla del West | Giacomo Puccini
Digital premiere: April 11, 2027
The season will continue with one of Puccini’s less frequently performed but most distinctive operas. Set in the American West, La fanciulla del West stands out for its dramatic intensity and for a rich and innovative musical writing within the Italian composer’s career.
5. Jenůfa | Leoš Janáček
Digital premiere: June 6, 2027
LiceuOPERA+ will also include this landmark work by Janáček, considered one of the great operatic creations of the 20th century. With strong emotional and psychological depth, Jenůfa is one of the most intense and demanding productions of the season.
6. Die Zauberflöte | Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
Digital premiere: July 25, 2027
The digital season will close with one of Mozart’s most universal operas. Die Zauberflöte combines fantasy, symbolism, and major musical highlights in an ideal work to conclude the LiceuOPERA+ season with one of the most celebrated titles in opera history.
During the 26/27 season LiceuOPERA+ offers titles from the current season such as Akhnaten by Philip Glass, L’elisir d’amore by Gaetano Donizetti, Tristan und Isolde by Richard Wagner, La Gioconda by Amilcare Ponchielli, Manon Lescaut by Giacomo Puccini and Le nozze di Figaro by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, featuring top-level casts and outstanding artistic teams.
LiceuOPERA+ remains included in the Liceu fixed subscription at a special price of 45 euros, while the general price for non-subscribers remains 90 euros. The platform aims to reach 10,000 subscribers during the 2026/27 season.
