Surtitles

Each opera has surtitles in Catalan, which allow the audience to follow the plot. The subtitles for the particular adaptation of the libretto for the performance are displayed on the screen at the top of the stage in Catalan only.*

Small screens located in the seats offer surtitles in Catalan, Spanish and English.

The areas with zero or limited view are equipped with screens that show images of the show. The first row of the tiers does not have screens.

The Liceu offers this additional service free of charge, and it does not affect the price of the seats.

Should there be shortcomings or interruptions in its operation, no claims will be accepted.

*Since the beginning of the 2023/24 season, the Liceu has detected some issues due to the effects of obsolescence concerning the subtitle screens available in most of the theater's seats and the image screens (TFT). While the complete renovation of the screens is being carried out, the screen above the stage has been immediately expanded, and it will have subtitles in Catalan, Spanish, and English, provisionally, to facilitate the proper following of the operas.

Is there a doctor on duty during the performance?

Yes, during all performances there is a doctor available to help the audience.

Is there a bar and/or cafeteria service?

There is a catering service available before the start of the performance and during the intermission at the designated points.

Tickets for the intermission can be purchased in advance in the Theatre's main entrance before the start of the performance.

To book tables and service in the boxes, please contact Singularis at least 24 hours in advance: [email protected] or phone 659 01 20 77.

Is there a cloakroom service?

The Theater offers a free cloakroom service. Currently, only the cloakroom in the lobby of c/ Sant Pau will remain open. It can be accessed from both the entrance on c/ Sant Pau and from inside the Theater once you have entered through the main lobby on La Rambla.

Audience members without a cloakroom ticket will be required to deposit bulky items such as bags, backpacks, umbrellas, helmets, and coats at the cloakroom.

For security reasons, items may be inspected.

From what age can children attend performances?

For performances starting at 7pm or later, only children over 5 years of age may enter the auditorium.

In exceptional cases, for ballet and Christmas concert performances, and as long as it is a morning or matinee performance (at 5 pm or 6 pm), children aged 3 and over are allowed to enter.

For El Petit Liceu performances, a paying ticket is required for children aged 3 and over. It is also recommended that children do not go to the upper floors, especially to the front rows.

It is recommended that children sit in boxes or in side aisle seats in case it is necessary for them to leave the auditorium.

For concerts organised by external promoters, the promoter should be consulted in each case.

Fixed Season Tickets are renewed automatically. The renewal will be carried out automatically. If you wish to make any changes, you must do so during the period reserved for this purpose.

However, for reasons of internal organisation, the Theatre cannot guarantee that the renewal will be made for the same seat. In this case, the Theatre will offer the season ticket holder an alternative seat similar to the one they had.

A la Carte season tickets are not renewed automatically. It is necessary to choose the performances and seats each season.

I am a season ticket holder and I cannot attend a performance, what can I do?

Season ticket holders will be able to change the seat in their allocated performance for an alternative for the same show. They must pay the difference if the price of the chosen ticket is higher.

The first change is free of charge for season ticket holders with a fixed seat. Subsequent changes for the same show, as well as changes of performance for flexible season ticket holders, will involve a fee of €5 per change.

You can also free up your seat through the Vacant Seat Service and recoup part of the ticket price. Exclusively for season ticket holders with direct debit.

Season ticket holders can release their tickets directly from the Personal Area of the website (up to 24 hours before the date of the performance).

If the ticket remains unsold, the season ticket holder may retrieve it up to 1 hour before the start of the performance.

For those performances where the season ticket holder releases their seat, and the Theatre is able to sell it, 50% of the price will be refunded, minus VAT and administration fees.

I have lost my season ticket and I have a performance, what should I do?

You can print your ticket from your Personal Area or go to the Box Office with your ID card and request a printout for the next performance (cost: €1 per ticket)

If you think you have definitely lost it, you will have to ask for a duplicate. You can request a replacement card on our website or at the ticket office. This service costs €10 per card.
