María José Moreno

Soprano

Moreno was the winner of the Grand Prize in the 1997 Francesc Viñas Singing Contest, as well as carrying off the audience's award and that for the best Spanish singer. In that same year's edition of the Critics' Awards organized by Amics del Liceu she won the "outstanding newcomer" prize for her role in L’elisir d’amore. Since then she has performed at major European venues, such as the Wiener Staatsoper and the Teatro alla Scala in Milan, and taken part in the Rossini Festival in Pesaro. She was a participant in the recording of Falstaff, conducted by Sir Colin Davis, which won a Grammy.
