  • Capçalera platja a la clàssica 2025
    This Wednesday, 30,000 people filled Sant Sebastià beach to experience an exceptional night with Mar i Cel, the classic by Dagoll Dagom, in a symphonic version performed by the Chorus and Orchestra of the Gran Teatre del Liceu. The concert, conducted by Pablo Assante and Sergi Cuenca, opened with Mendelssohn’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream and culminated in an emotional symphonic performance of Mar i Cel with the 2024 cast.
  • Jonathan Nott
    Maestro Jonathan Nott will become the new Music Director of the Gran Teatre del Liceu starting in the 2026/2027 season and for five seasons. Nott succeeds Maestro Pons after fourteen years leading the Theatre’s Orchestra. Jonathan Nott’s career, marked by profound mastery and a contemporary sensitivity, traces a sonic journey from Mozart and Schubert to Mahler, Bruckner, and Shostakovich, reaching the very edge of contemporary creation.
  • Capçalera Liceu Opera+ Rusalka
    On July 4, Rusalka by Dvořák will be broadcast live, with stage direction by Christof Loy and musical direction by Josep Pons, featuring Asmik Grigorian and Piotr Beczała on Liceu OPERA+. The platform, relaunched in March, offers a digital subscription with 12 titles for 60 euros until July 31, and 90 euros thereafter. Ramon Gener will host the performance, interviewing the main artists.
  • Capçalera Noticia Clàssica a la platja 2025
    The Gran Teatre del Liceu, the Palau de la Música and L’Auditori will fill Sant Sebastià beach with free symphonic music on July 9 and 10. Featuring excerpts from Mar i cel by Dagoll Dagom, Bizet and Granados, and offering accessible programmes for everyone, the initiative aims to bring music to all audiences and take it to places where it doesn’t always reach. There will also be workshops and concerts at Hospital del Mar and two care homes for the elderly, in order to bring music to those who cannot make it to the beach.

    The Gran Teatre del Liceu premieres Hammer in Barcelona, a work by Alexander Ekman that reflects on today’s society through a physical and visual language. From June 29 to July 5, four performances of this two-act show featuring choreography by the Gothenburg Opera Dance Company.
  • Capçalera 25 anys Petit Liceu RDP
    The Gran Teatre del Liceu celebrates 25 years of the Petit Liceu with four new productions, the tour of 'The Young Aida', and three free performances during La Mercè. An illustrated book is being launched, and a new Educational Advisory Council is being created. Since 2000, nearly 1.8 million children and young people have attended its performances.

    The concert will be a unique opportunity to enjoy Wagner and Strauss in an evening of high artistic intensity. Josep Pons will lead an emotional journey with Asmik Grigorian and Matthias Goerne, two exceptional voices. The program includes the 'Liebestod', the 'Lament of King Marke', 'Wotan’s Farewell', and the 'Vier letzte Lieder'. A sonic gift for opera lovers.

    Lithuanian soprano Asmik Grigorian and Polish tenor Piotr Beczała lead a great cast that will make shine the grand and demanding romantic score by Antonín Dvořák. Under the direction of Josep Pons, Christof Loy’s production reflects on the state of incomunication and emptiness when art ceases to function as the driving force of life.

    The stars of this major event will be Marina Rebeka, Clémentine Margaine, Martin Muehle, and Ludovic Tézier, accompanied by the Symphony Orchestra of the Gran Teatre del Liceu under the baton of maestro Giuseppe Finzi. This Opera Gala is part of the commemoration of the 178th anniversary of the opening of the Gran Teatre del Liceu, celebrated this past 4 April.

    The Gran Teatre del Liceu presents Giulio Cesare by Georg Friedrich Händel, in a co-production with the Dutch National Opera, under the stage direction of Calixto Bieito. Maestro William Christie, one of the world’s leading authorities on the Baroque repertoire, will conduct the Liceu’s orchestra in a total of six performances. Barcelona-born countertenor Xavier Sabata and French soprano Julie Fuchs, two leading experts in 18th-century music, will take on the roles of Giulio Cesare and Cleopatra.
